VANCOUVER, B.C. – This renovation looked to maintain and enhance an existing home in East Vancouver. Currently in the design phase, the redesign involves simple, intelligent adjustments to the existing interior partitions, a compact rear addition, as well as the creation of a half-storey that makes use of the existing attic space.
Given the small footprint of the home, the focus to-date has been on smartly organizing the interior layout in accordance with the strict regulations in the area in such a way that minimizes construction costs and creates an welcoming, open, and light-filled interior environment. Natural ventilation and passive solar design strategies were incorporated to the best possible level.
Although building it is scheduled for the new year, the homes construction and heating systems are intended to attain a high level of energy-efficiency. Furthermore, interior finishes and products are to meet the highest standard of indoor air quality and environmental responsibility.
