DELTA, B.C. – This small-scale project was driven by the desire to create a single-car garage with a compact, livable unit above it. Simple modifications of the existing facade and interior living spaces of the existing house were also included as a means tying the entire project together.
The scale of the carriage house forced a close-packed, but thoughtful interior layout that wisely took advantage of the narrow volume while allowing it to feel spacious. Interior and exterior windows extended sight lines to the surrounding exterior spaces, while window sizes and orientations ensured passive solar heating and natural ventilation.
